The London to Paris Cycle Ride is a four day challenge for the St Elizabeth’s Hospice in Suffolk. The route is over 300 miles long, stretching across two countries, and takes place annually at the end of September. Alex Barr, supported by Ebury, took part in this charity event for the second year in a row!

S
t Elizabeth Hospice is an independent charity which provides free services to people with progressive illnesses. With almost three quarters of their funds coming from the local community, they are reliant on fundraising, donations and volunteers to maintain their facilities. Their work is centred on individual needs, which often requires support of a specialist that is either based at the hospice, or pays home visits to patients.

The challenge began on the 19th September and was supported by 40 volunteers, including Ebury’s Alex. Their ride was split over four days: London to Calais on day one, Calais to Abbeville on day two, Abbeville to Beauvais on day three and Beauvais to Paris on the final day.

“Cycling From London to Paris was a tough undertaking. Although I’m sure it’s caused some aches and pains for the cyclists, the challenge was well worth the effort! I am really pleased to have raised so much for such a great local charity.”

The volunteers gave themselves an ambitious target of raising £80,000 and they have raised over £60,000 so far. Ebury are delighted to have supported Alex’s part in this worthy cause, and look forward to encourage him in his next charitable event!
